Celebrate Together.
Welcome all visitors to our school website, including all of our current families and also any potential future families. Our school vision is what drives our school in everything we do. It is the lens we put all of our decisions and actions through to ensure we are staying on course with what we are endeavouring to achieve.
At Fisk Street Primary we are committed to improving the learning and wellbeing of each student at our school. Our staff are a collaborative and proactive team who focus on improving their teaching practice and therefore improving student learning outcomes. Staff provide a variety of experiences and opportunities for our students which focus on expanding their horizons and allowing every individual to shine. We further aim to provide learning opportunities that promote a sense of curiosity in our students, introducing them to new ideas, enabling them to develop their own interests and aspirations and develop a love of learning.
Our school is a small, close knit and welcoming community which embraces people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our school strives to foster our school wide values and behaviours, along with a positive mindset to ensure Every Child Achieves their true potential. We are proud that equality and inclusion is at the heart of all we do, and our ethos is highlighted through our, mission, vision, core values and motto.
We are all extremely proud of our history as a school and also of the positive engaging learning environment we have created today. I welcome anyone interested in learning more about our wonderful school first-hand to contact the school to arrange a personalised tour with myself. We would love to have you join our school community.

A Message from our Leadership
At Fisk Street Primary School, we value the strengths, skills and interests that all students bring to the classroom. Learning is differentiated in every classroom to allow for all students to access the curriculum. A range of additional learning programs are also implemented to ensure all students have the opportunity to be successful learners. Staff are supported to implement effective Visible Learning practices such as Learning Intentions, Success Criteria, Solo Taxonomy and Feedback to ensure all students know what they are learning and how they are going to achieve their goals.
As the Senior Leader, I will be monitoring the progress of all students at Fisk Street Primary School to ensure that every student is successful in achieving their goals. I look forward to working with the staff, students and community at Fisk Street Primary School.
Amber Cabban
Literacy Senior Leader, Classroom Teacher, Years 4, 5 & 6.
The Mathematics curriculum provides students with essential mathematical skills and knowledge in Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. It develops the numeracy capabilities that all students need in their personal, work and civic life, and provides the fundamentals on which mathematical specialties and professional applications of mathematics are built.
At Fisk Street, students engage in Mathematics experiences that are aligned with the Australian Curriculum but that also endeavour to engage students and develop a deep understanding of the importance of Mathematics in everyday life and the world around us. Our focus is to increase student achievement in Mathematics by developing problem-solving and reasoning skills through a variety of open-ended, challenge based and real-life problems. The implementation of Di Siemons’ ‘Big ideas’ in Number and diagnostic data collection across the school will target individual learners and create engaging, practical lessons.
As the Numeracy Coordinator at Fisk Street this year, I look forward to supporting teachers and students to achieve success in their Mathematical goals.
Peta Milne
Numeracy Coordinator, Classroom Teacher, Years 3 & 4.
At Fisk we are striving to equip students with the necessary skills for future success. My role is ensure that our school and classrooms are a safe, enjoyable and engaging so that students are loving coming to school. We are working on making sure that the lessons that we deliver are engaging for students by making them purposeful. We do this by making them relevant to student’s lives, tailored to their self-interests and having known purpose for doing them. We celebrate the successes of our students along the way by tracking their individual growth.
We view learning as a challenge so we have a growth mindset focus that students are not able to do something yet but with effort and application and being taught the right skills our students can achieve just about anything. We teach students about “The Learning Pit” and the skills and attitudes to have to work through the challenge of learning and problem solving. The skills we teach are based on the learning dispositions of the Four C’s creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking.
I am here to also support families in helping ensure that they are supported in helping their child attend school and have their needs met.
