Principals Welcome

I welcome all visitors to our school website, including all of our current families and also any potential future families. Our school vision is what drives our school in everything we do. It is the lens we put all of our decisions and actions through to ensure we are staying on course with what we are endeavouring to achieve.

Learn Together. Achieve Together. Celebrate Together.

At Fisk Street Primary we are committed to improving the learning and wellbeing of each student at our school. Our staff are a collaborative and proactive team who focus on improving their teaching practice and therefore improving student learning outcomes. Staff provide a variety of experiences and opportunities for our students which focus on expanding their horizons and allowing every individual to shine. We further aim to provide learning opportunities that promote a sense of curiosity in our students, introducing them to new ideas, enabling them to develop their own interests and aspirations and develop a love of learning.

Our school is a small, close knit and welcoming community which embraces people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our school strives to foster our school wide values and behaviours, along with a positive mindset to ensure Every Child Achieves their true potential. We are proud that equality and inclusion is at the heart of all we do, and our ethos is highlighted through our, mission, vision, core values and motto.

We are all extremely proud of our history as a school and also of the positive engaging learning environment we have created today. I welcome anyone interested in learning more about our wonderful school first-hand to contact the school to arrange a personalised tour with myself. We would love to have you join our school community.

A Message from our Leadership

Fisk Street Primary School values every individual student and family in the learning partnership connected through the values of respect, honesty, doing your best and team work.

I share in the learning expedition and progress of students and teachers. Monitoring every student’s data to ensure they are making progress to the best of their ability. I work to encourage and coach teachers with their rigours teaching and learning programs where students develop fluency and accuracy in all areas of the curriculum. Where there is slow growth teachers are mentored by the senior leader through coaching to analyse data and the teaching practice to ensure student continue to learn the skills they need. When needed students are given intensive intervention to achieve their learning goals.

Fisk Street Primary School began Visible Learning project at the beginning of 2017. In the past few years, the focus has been on student’s voice and ensuring systems and processes are in place to ensure continued and sustainable growth occurs with each child. As we continue on this journey focusing on developing concise learning intentions and success criteria that is personalised so every learner in the classroom experiences stretch and success.

I invite you to share in our exciting learning journey as we work together to develop all children’s potential.

Robyn Lindholm

Senior Leader

2019 has seen the implementation of new learning dispositions. The aim of our learning dispositions is for students to gain lifelong learning skills that will lead help them learn, adapt and flourish in life.

Our learning dispositions are the four C’s which are aimed at teaching our students the skills and habits of being a modern learner. These are:

  • Communication– being able to understand, inform and share thoughts and ideas
  • Collaboration –working with others
  • Critical thinking– allows students to analyse, research, explore, contextualise to problem solve
  • Creativity– allows students to be innovative and engaging,

Each class has two Student Voice representatives that are voted in by their class peers. The aim of Student Voice is to involve students in decision making around the school in presenting ideas which will lead to school improvements. We do this through weekly meetings where we discuss ideas and feed them back through class circle times. Ideas for Student Voice to discuss are also generated from our students during circle time discussions.
